2026-27 NBME Call for Nominations

July 2026

On behalf of the NBME Board of Directors, the NBME Governance and Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for members for the NBME Council and Board of Directors. The NBME Council provides advice and counsel to the NBME Board of Directors and staff on issues of relevance to the organization and its stakeholders. The NBME Council works in both a proactive and reactive capacity through synchronous and asynchronous exchange of ideas. The NBME Board of Directors is the leadership and fiduciary body of NBME. The NBME Council and Board of Directors comprise individuals who bring diverse expertise, perspectives, and representation from across key stakeholder groups and provide insight into topics of interest to NBME, including current, emerging and future issues in assessment and medical education.

Nominations materials are due no later than September 30, 2026. The nominations will be reviewed by the Governance and Nominating Committee in winter of 2026-27.

NBME recognizes the benefits inherent within a diverse community and therefore seeks individuals with varied experiences, perspectives, identities, and backgrounds. We invite nominations of individuals in all career phases and professions.

We particularly encourage candidates:

-who represent the public perspective on healthcare and healthcare providers;

-whose work and interests focus on inter-professional teamwork;

-who work on the forefront of innovation in healthcare and assessment, such as:

• working in health system management and administration,
• working in information technology used in the healthcare and assessment space, and
• innovating in assessment and education.

Nomination Process

NBME appreciates your careful consideration of the request for nominations. To facilitate the efforts of the Governance and Nominating Committee during its deliberations, please complete the following submission form in full. Not every question will apply to every nominee. Nominees are reviewed and selected by the NBME Governance and Nominating Committee and are elected by the NBME Board of Directors in February 2027. Invitations to serve are extended to new members in February and March. Terms of new members will begin in April 2027 and they will be invited to attend the NBME annual meeting in April 2027 in Philadelphia.
